Dutch John is a town near the Flaming Gorge Dam in Daggett County in Northeastern Utah.
The town was created by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1957 to house workers for the dam. It expanded to 3,500 during the construction period and dropped back to about 100 maintenance workers and employees at Ashley National Forest.
The town was owned by the Bureau of Reclamation until 1988 when many of the houses were privatized and development to be directed by Daggett County (see Daggett County Master Plan). Dutch John was incorporated as a town in 2016.
